Winemaker’s Notes:

 “The Zinfandel that comes from the Livermore Valley has elegance and spicy fruit. It lends itself to a floral presentation, but never quite arrives at full bloom. In order to bring the spiciness forward, I’ve been leaning on the Oak that comes from Pennsylvania and Virginia. These forests bring out its intrinsic qualities. The tannin structure from these forests pose a challenge, however, so in order to balance the delicate character of the zin with the barrel type, I like to use barrels that have seen a couple vintages prior to this wine.”

Tasting Notes:

This vintage is medium ruby red with great clarity and a pretty bouquet of spicy, traditional Zin. The mouthfeel is medium in weight with generous in fruit. It has a supple mid palate and a long finish which has a unique smoky strawberry character.

Oak plays a medium roll in this wine which saw entirely American barrels with a large percentage of the aging time being in barrels from particular forests for their impact on the wine.
