“The Sblendorio vineyard is just off Mines Rd on the south side of the Livermore Valley. It sits on a bench above the water shed.
The Sblendorios tend to this vineyard of their own accord and it is immaculately taken care of.
The fruit comes in during the peak of the heat in September and the alcohol, as with most zins, can creep up through raisining. This creates a fresh and cheerful wine and begs for a fired up grill full of veggies and a New York cut with plenty of marbling…. Just be sure to save some for dinner.”
Dane Stark, winemaker
This wine has a brilliant clarity and fresh red color.
Its aroma is candied and bright, with cherries and hints of spicy fruitcake, blueberries and musk.
With soft tannins and silky mid palate, the fruit is gentle and backed by an elevated alcohol giving it a racy mouthfeel. There are notes of strawberry pie, candied cherries, and a hint of caramel apple towards the finish and in the lingering palate.
Oak plays a minor role in this wine which saw entirely American barrels with no new barrels.
