“This wine is dedicated to my business partner, Gary Brink, who succumbed to Fronto-Temporal Dementia in 2017. He was a monumental part of Page Mill Winery for 25 years and will always be sorely missed. In his honor, $10 from every bottle of this wine that is sold will be donated to UCSF, the foremost research program focused on FTD.
While I was in Bordeaux for my junior year abroad, my host father, Christian Desmoulins, lived in St Macaire and was instrumental in my wine education. Therefor when I wanted to create a top flight wine, in the Bordeaux tradition, I had to tip my hat to my roots of wine appreciation. If you ever visit Bordeaux, there’s a tiny town south of Bordeaux called St. Macaire, please say “Hello” for me.”

The color of this wine is ruby red with rich edges. It is 67% Merlot with 33% Malbec.
It opens with vibrant fruit, a touch of chocolate and roses and quite a bit of intensity with heavy fruit and a touch of oak. The soft and velvety mouthfeel is backed by rich cassis and a dense fruit backdrop. Medium tannins provide for a wonderful food wine and tremendous age-ability The finish mingles toasted oak and ripe fruit for a rich experience of classic French, Bordeaux intensity.
